About Mitchell Berninger

Introduce yourself. Where are you from? Do you have any brothers and sisters? Do you have any pets? What do you like to do for fun?

My name is Mitchell Berninger. My home town is Williamsport, Pa. I have a brother that is 17 years older than I am. Currently, I have two dogs and a rabbit. In my free time, I enjoy hanging with my fraternity brothers and relaxing.

Do you have any experience with web development (HTML and CSS)?

Yes, I have worked with developing multiple small websites before. Several years ago I was a beta tester of the iWebkit website framework. This framework has become the most used iPhone Webapp framework on the net.

What year are you in at Penn College and what is your major?

I am ending my second year (4th semester) at Penn College. I am currently in the Gaming and Simulation Major, but still feeling out if I want to switch into another IT Major. I am planning on taking a minor in web technology in addition to three competencies.

Why did you decide on this major?

After switching from being a Graphic Designer, I wanted to follow my passion of working with computers. I am currently in the BGS major but am considering changing into either the networking or web design majors.

What do you see yourself doing as your career?

I am a very felxable person and see myself in a wide variety of jobs. Perferbly I would like to be a video game graphics designer, but I would also be very happy as a computer systems manager.

What are the possible uses of HTML/CSS webpage development knowledge in your chosen career?

Websites are the leading form of communication within the technology era. To keep clients up to date with your company, employees must be able to effectively and efficently create and maintain websites.

A website I would recomend?

Reddit is a website that allows the users to stay up to date with the lastest news ranging from world news and politics to technology and cinema.

Since Assignment 1's completion, I have done lots of thinking. I have decided to change majors and go for a Dual Degree. Below are the updated answers for assignment 1's questions.

What year are you in at Penn College and what is your major?

I am ending my second year (4th semester) at Penn College. I recently switched into the Information Technology: Network Specialist Concentration program. In addition I am working to complete an associate degree in Information Technology: Technical Support Technology Emphasis and a Minor in Web Technology in addition to a competency of National Security Telecommunications and Systems Security.

Why did you decide on this major?

After thinking long and hard, I came to a realization that the video game industry is very competative. I began to think about job possibilities and came to realize that the job market for video game designers is much more restrictive than other industries. Incase I didn't get a job within that industry, I would not have a back up degree. I decided to change majors into the Networking degree, where I am confident in my abilities and within the job market.

What do you see yourself doing as your career?

I am a very felxable person and see myself in a wide variety of jobs. Perferbly I would like to be in a position where I can work on computer hardware on site. I am a social person and perfer working with other people on the job site rather than in an office.

Photography

One of my favorite hobbies is photography. I enjoy taking photographs of many subjects. I have had one of my photographs featured on WNEP's Home and Backyard show in addition to a popular photographer critique.
